Packing Merchandise
Certain products require an interior protective insert, referred to as a slash guard. The slash guard prevents merchandise from being cut when the master shipping carton is opened.
The slash guard (single wall corrugated pad) is to be inserted along the full length and width of the top, and extend down the end panel. The end panel extension must cover the entire interior of the end panel, from the top of the carton to the bottom and must be positioned on the same end panel the shipping label is attached to.
Rule of thumb: If there are 1 to 2 inches of space on the top and at the end panel after the contents are settled, a slash guard is not needed. (Please refer to the Sealing section when not using a slash guard.)
Note: Exceptions to the above must be approved by the L.L.Bean Packaging Specialists.
L.L.Bean reserves the right to specify other products requiring a slash guard.
