On the evening just before Jesus was arrested, Jesus had left many instructions to his disciples. Those precious teachings of that final evening are recorded in John chapters 13-17. The disciples had already heard several times about Jesus’ imminent arrest, suffering and resurrection. Without understanding its real meaning, they began to worry and they were even terrified. Chapter 14 starts with the words of Jesus as following: NIV John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms (monai.); if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place (to,pon) for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. It seems that there is great misunderstanding regarding the word monh, and the whole sentence which includes this word as well as the following verse (14:3) among modern Bible readers. It also seems that the same problem happened even to the disciples of Jesus who heard those words face to face.
