• Domestic vendors with FOB/LDP/DDP terms of sale. • Full factory loaded trucks/containers to all L.L.Bean facilities in U.S.
Does not apply to ...
• Vendors who ship less than full truck/container loads
• Direct ship vendors
• Vendors that deliver loose freight to our forwarder/consolidator
Effective Date
Immediate.
Background
L.L.Bean, Inc. has multiple channels received in multiple building locations. Our internal processes are designed to unload the containers by building and by channel in the most efficient manner.
Rationale
Load sequencing ensures that a planned sequence is followed by vendors when loading containers, so that the internal processes of unloading and stocking of goods can flow smoothly. This saves the extra cost, handling and time necessary to sort out cartons and transfer them to the correct facility.

Key principles for load sequence
• Corporate POs in the "nose" and Retail POs in the "tail."
• All Fish & Wildlife (F&W) shipments must load in the very last position in the tail of the container and must have a separate Bill of Lading.
• Purchase Orders should not be split unless the PO exceeds one (1) container.
• Load container by a single building and single channel wherever possible.
Load sequence model and examples
The procedure and examples below show how to sequence the purchase orders into the container according to their warehouse locations and their corporate or retail channel, based on priority volume to fill containers.
