In this report, we describe a method of systematically developing scripts of varying levels of difficulty for persons with different aphasia severities as determined by the Aphasia Quotient (AQ) of the Western Aphasia Battery-Revised (WAB-R). The method begins with a simple script template that is systematically modified in terms of readability and grammatical and semantic difficulty. Personalized content is added to each script so it becomes more meaningful to the person with aphasia. We also assess oral reading of these template-based scripts to determine whether or not they are practical to use with participants who differ in the severity of their aphasia.
