A third reason to discuss microaggressions is that some clients have trouble containing the rage that these microaggressions can trigger. Especially for those with any history of trauma, a microaggression can evoke feelings of helplessness, which then are countered by rage, which feels more powerful in the moment. But the can endanger friendships and intimate relationships, alienate otherwise helpful citizens, and even endanger the person with the disability by engendering a hostile rage response in return.
