Non-precious metal OER catalysts with excellent catalytic activity and stability should have the following characteristics: (I) the catalyst itself should contain elements with high OER activity (e.g., Ni, Co, and Fe) [8]; (II) said catalysthas a tunablecomposition to tune the electronic structure of the catalyst [9]; (III) the catalystshould have a high specific surface area to expose the catalyst ’s more active sites [10]; (IV) the catalyst should have excellent electronic conductivity to accelerate charge transfer from the active site [11]; (V) the catalyst should be superhydrophilic to increase the contact area with the electrolyteand to speed up bubbles release [12]; (VI) the catalyst with excellent electrochemical stability should be stably immobilized on the conductive substrate to avoid catalystshedding throughout the catalytic test [13]. It is still difficult to design and create OER catalysts that satisfy all of the aforementioned requirements.
