3.1.3.7 Oblique Impact
The goal of this task was to study how the technique of oblique impact, which is typical for cooling of
a groove, can influence heat transfer. The angle of the nozzle axis was set in the range from 90°
(perpendicular impact) to 20°. A full cone nozzle supplied by Lechler, type 460.964 and operating at a
water pressure of 5 bar(g) was used. Configuration of the test equipment for the impact angle of 40° is
shown in Figure 3.1.13. The spray distance of 200 mm was used in all tests. Deformation of the HTC
distribution along the sprayed surface due to a nozzle inclination can be seen in Figure 3.1.14.
