Description
The elastic drag move is meant to unbalance your opponent so you can then go past him. The player feints to go one way with the first touch with the inside of the foot, then suddenly uses the outside of the same foot to move the ball the other way and past the defender.
Have the demonstration with a defender, allowing the players to see how the movement is effective to beat an opponent.
Coaching Points (Right Foot)
1. Dribble the ball with complete control using your strongest foot.
2. Look where your opponent is.
3. Start the movement approximately 5 yards away from the opponent.
4. Drag the ball with the inside of the right foot to the left, drop the left shoulder and bend the left leg. Retain contact with the ball.
5. Feint to beat your opponent to your left (their right side).
6. When the opponent moves with the feint, you then use the outside of the right foot (still retaining contact with the ball) to move the ball in the opposite direction (towards the right) and beat the opponent.
7. Bend your left knee so you can then make an explosive movement away from the opponent.
8. Dribble away at speed, allowing your opponent no chance to recover.
