ASSIMILATION SYSTEM
The ice concentration is obtained from the advanced
microwave scanning radiometer (AMSR2) onboard
the GCOM-W satellite. It consists of daily ice
concentration on a 10 km grid. URL:
https://ads.nipr.ac.jp. Ice thickness is obtained from
ADS[4]. Ice velocity data set is obtained by [5]. Sea
ice concentration data are available in a daily interval
for the year 2013. Ice velocity data and sea ice
thickness data are only available from January to May
of 2013. In this study the timespan of data
assimilation experiment was set to year 2013. The
intermittent approach was used to assimilate sea ice
concentration and sea ice thickness. They were
assimilated daily and were integrated for 24 hours.
Sea ice velocity was continuously assimilated. Each
day the model estimate is nudged to a new estimate
with the following relationship.
