The Enhanced Upload Tool supports all the file types supported by the Classic Upload Tool. If one of your files is of a type not supported by the system, or you are uploading a zip file that contains an unsupported file, try uploading it as a supplementary item by selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu in the Item field on the Attach Files page.
For more information on both supported and unsupported file types, Click Here.
Using the Enhanced Upload Tool with Windows.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox or another browser on a Windows machine, the Enhanced Upload Tool requires that you first enable Java applets and install JRE v1.7 or higher.
Using the Enhanced Upload Tool on a Mac
Java comes pre-installed on a Mac, so the Enhanced Upload Tool should work ‘out of the box’ for Mac users.
Using the Enhanced Upload Tool on a Linux system with Ubuntu
Running the Enhanced Upload Tool on a Linux system with Ubuntu requires a Sun Java Development Kit, which is not included in the default Ubuntu 10.04 LTS installation. For assistance with Ubuntu, Click Here.
You may download the most recent version of JRE for most operation systems here.
In some journals, compressed files are unpacked by the system after upload. In some journals, compressed files like .zip, .tar, .kmz may be uploaded without being ‘unpacked’ if they contain, for example, KMZ files or 3D models with multiple files that need to be kept together. If that option is available for the journal, a special submission item type will be available when you upload your files, Consult the journal instructions for more information. EES checks all files, compressed and uncompressed, against the submission size cap of 700MB.
There is a total submission size limit of 700MB, with a recommended individual file limit of 50MB. Larger files may take longer to upload.
The Enhanced Upload Tool does not allow identification of items submitted offline (for journals that allow this). Switch to the Classic Upload Tool to identify any files submitted offline.
If you are unable to upload files using the Enhanced Upload Tool, switch to the 'Classic Upload Tool' by clicking the 'Classic Upload Tool' button on the Attach Files submission step.
