Finally, the term post-Western is also used in a descriptive manner to refer to Christians and theological developments that are “beyond” the West. This phrase, however, seems to unnecessarily diminish the growing partnerships and connectedness between Christians throughout the world; it also ignores the ancient churches in the East as well as some of the newer indigenous movements that have not been significantly influenced by the West and, therefore, cannot be accurately described as “post” anything. Thus, this expression will not be used unless I am specifically referring to a theological movement or trend that has moved “beyond” the West in some intentional way.
