While the project did break down into clearly identifiable stages, the project team also learned that it was possible, and even advisable, to run some of these stages in parallel.Rather than treating the project phases as distinct operations that needed to be run sequentially, one team project leader wrote XSLT files, while the other project leader managed the source data clean up. Later on, one project lead selected new authorized headings to add to the data set, while the other managed the design of the website. This approach required constant communication to be successful, and the project leaders carefully coordinated what tasks were run at the same time to ensure that the work of one team member was not undone by the work of the other on a separate task. These parallel efforts contributed to the relatively quick turnaround of the project, which was accomplished while the project team members still maintained their routine workloads outside of the project.
