When considering time and resource management, linked data project teams would be well advised to set reasonable expectations for the scope of their first linked data project. The NCSU project team began with an interest in exploring many different methods of creating, manipulating, and storing our RDF data but eventually prioritized the timely completion of the project over more complex methods of data creation and publication. For example, the NCSU project team experimented with the open source Sesame triple store because we were interested in making our data available for live queries through Sesame's SPARQL end point. However,we ultimately choose not to implement a triple store because it would have required setting up and maintaining new server infrastructure, which was hard to justify for our small, experimental project. The NCSU project team hopes to utilize triple stores and other more-advanced linked data technologies when we attempt larger-scale projects in the future.
