In view of the priority given to these four WTE technologies, a method based on multi criteria decision making (MCDM) model is adopted. The approach takes into account the country's unique socio-economic, environmental and technological prospects, as well as the judgment of key experts in the field of SWM and power generation. The decision criteria necessary for the model and related to the evaluation of different WTE technologies are determined. Four identified technologies and data collection were reviewed against selected decision criteria. Data collected from the technology and literature review were inserted into the model, and different WTE technologies in Mauritius were compared. As a result, the preferred WTE technology in Mauritius was identified. The environmental and economic benefits of priority technologies, including avoidance of methane emissions, net CO2 equivalent emissions, annual power generation, and economic savings from combustion of heavy fuel oil (HFO) in thermal power plants, have been prioritized. The barriers associated with the selected technology were identified and suggestions were made to translate them into measures. The method flow chart for research purposes is shown in Figure 1.<br>
