根据企业的实际生产需要，本文通过对大口径液压弯管机工作原理的分析，针对该设备存在的自动化程度低，工作过程繁琐和加工精度差的原因，分别提出了现有问题的解决方案，以及基于台达PLC的弯管机自动控制系统的研制方案。在充分分析了弯管机的工作流程、技术特点和弯管过程中参数要求的基础上，改造弯管机现有的液压系统，使液压系统达到满足后续电气系统的必要条件。通过分析弯管机的执行元件和重要参数，设计出电气系统的硬件组成和各个硬件设备的电路接线图。根据设备的作业要求，以台达公司的WPLSoft、DOPSoft、DCISoft1.12软件作为系统开发平台编写PLC和触摸屏的控制程序。
通过对大口径液压弯管机的技术参数分析，并应用PLC控制技术，完成了对弯管机自动控制系统的软、硬件设计。控制系统经过上机调试，弯管机的各执行元件能够有序稳定的工作并且满足企业的技术要求。验证了大口径液压弯管机升级改造的可行性，为油气建设工程提供更为高效的大口径钢管的弯管设备，该设备自动控制系统的实现具有一定的经济价值和应用价值。同时，还能使得大口径弯管机得到更加广泛的推广使用。
