PURPOSE OF THE INVESTIGATIONThe current investigation examined the effect of using aided AAC models on the production ofmulti-symbol messages by preschoolers who use AAC. Research questions were (1) What is the effect of using aided AAC models on the use of multi-symbol messages by preschoolers who use AAC? (2) What is the effect of this intervention on the preschoolers’ generalized use of multisymbol messages in new play scenarios when aided AAC models (a) are no longer provided? and (b) continue to be provided? (3) What is the effect of the intervention on the participants’ maintenance of multi-symbol messages after intervention has ceased?
