5.3.3 Degree of PolymerizationThe DP of cellulose varies depending on the source and treatment of the original cellulose fiber. It has been widely determined according to ISO 5351 method, that consists of diluting the cellulose sample in cupri-ethyenediamine (CED) solution and measuring the intrinsic viscosity of the solution with the use of a Cannon-Fenske capillary viscometer [43]. These values of intrinsic viscosity were translated into DP through the Mark-Houwink-Sakurada equation, η=0.42.
