Many educators support the integration of subject matter based on their analyses of studies pointing to successes with interdisciplinary curricular plans. Tyler defined in- tegration as "the horizontal relationship of curriculum experiences" and went on to say, "The organization of these experiences should be such that they help the student in- creasingly to get a unified view and to unify his behavior in relation to the elements dealt with. Hilda Taba commented, "It is recognized that learning is more effective when facts and principles from one field can be related to another, especially when applying this knowledge.
