This is a very good start with a lot of good personal reflection. The piece would benefit from some direct citation to both Erickson and McGrath, where applicable. How might you be able to incorporate the assigned reading into your reflections and use proper referencing (e.g., via parenthetical references or footnotes, where page numbers are included) to point to what you’ve read? In McGrath, you might want to consider incorporated some of the short excerpts that are found in Part 1 and Part 2, e.g., 1.10 (Thomas Aquinas), 1.24 (Paul Tillich), 1.26 (Gustavo Guiterrez), 1.27 (Brian Gerrish on Calvin), 1.28 (George Lindbeck), etc.- In this first journal entry, you should also add a paragraph at the end that engages with Thielicke’s Little Exercise for Young Theologians in some way.
