I was on the 8 day 7 night Pearls of the South Adriatic cruise on the Otac Nicola in August, 2016. Both the ship and cruise experience left much to be desired. The rooms are small especially for my party of 2 children and one adult. There was no air conditioning except an inadequate flow at night in the staterooms but not in the pubic areas. The breakfasts were similar every day; the only change was 2 mornings there were sunny side up eggs and one morning we had miniature danish. All drinks but tea are extra at all meals. There is even a charge for water at all meals. Lunches were good, flavored well but no extra portions were offered. Although there are lounge chairs readily available, there is no shade except in one area with a long table and 2 benches.
The islands were very interesting to see but this boat traveled to the next island from 8 AM arriving about 1 PM so that time on the island is very limited. In fact the last full day we spent 6 hours anchored near an island; the only activity was swimming. There is a part time "cruise director" who shares her time with the Mali Ante. The day's activities are written on a chalk board but she is not around with either literature or to answer questions. We were therefore not efficient with our time on the islands. Alec, who was in charge of the dining room did his best to help. The Otac Nicola was not in port for our Saturday 5:15 PM arrival. Fortunately I recognized the name of the Mali Ante and the crew was kind enough to let us wait in their air conditioned lounge and gave us complimentary water.
I enjoyed the places visited but not the low budget travel. There seem to be many boats in the waters so there are many cruises from which to choose.
I booked through Viator and am now suspicious about their offerings. Gulliver travel cut too many corners for my liking.
