Participants were instructed to maintain their usual diet, physical activity, and lifestyle while in the study. They were asked to record their food intake throughout the study. Body weight, height, waist circumference, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure were measured by trained personnel, and blood draws were performed by registered nurses at screening and 12 wk of the study. In case of premenopausal women, blood draws were conducted between days 10 and 20 of the menstrual cycle. Safety measures included checks of liver enzymes and kidney function at 6 wk of the study.
