Before implementing the plan of the bio-assimilation potential enhancement, improving sewage quality prior to discharge into streams and rivers is a priority. It must be done by reducing pollution inputs to receiving waters by means of Best Management Practices (BMPs) linked to CSO controls (see Chapter 4). However, these objectives cannot be fulfilled in a single step, and consequently, only the two first tasks have been addressed in this case study.
