If your fat cat has always got the cream - or at least kitty kibble in its mouth - ditching its dinner bowl may help.
There's now a feeding system that forces portly pusses to hunt for their food around the house.
The brainchild of a vet, the 'NoBowl' system consists of five mouse-shaped holders that can be filled with cat food and hidden, to help cats get back to nature and hunt a little like they would in the wild.
Dr Elizabeth Bales, who is raising money to put her idea into production on Indiegogo, said the system allows pets to exercise their predatory instinct and stay fit in the process.
It's thought to encourage chubby moggies only to eat when hungry.
The 43-year-old vet, based in Philadelphia, claims NoBowl is the first indoor hunting system for cats.
'In my practice, so many of the most common problems that I see in cats are born of wellness and lifestyle issues,' she said.'Cats become obese, lazy, anxious and even destructive or sick in the absence of the ability to hunt and interact with their food.
The NoBowl is the product of more than 20 years of research and has been trialled in numerous tests.
It comes with a training NoBowl for the rookie hunter, five NoBowls and a portion filler.
'While the instinct to hunt is innate in every cat, the technique is taught by the mother to her kittens,' Dr Bales explained.
'The training NoBowl takes on this job.
She said that when five NoBowls are hidden round the house, cats can hunt, eat and then rest until hunger stimulates her to go hunting again, just like in the wild.
