This research has contributed a systematic methodology to replace the pitfalls associated with the interaction of the “first come, first served” protocol and the Common Law’s Proximate Cause principle during float utilization and apportioning of delay responsibility. The ultimate goal of this paper is to contribute to the current body of knowledge with a concept that will mitigate possible delay and disruption disputes by preallocating the total float to the two contractual parties.
