The work package is achieved.
Comparison between the two methods of cooling (classical and HTRC) has been performed, and the
HTRC model developed.
Work roll cooling has been modified after the on-line trials: water flow rate has been diminished during
the first 60 km rolled in order to increase the formation of oxide layer. Improvement of heat transfer
coefficient was not needed since the actual cooling was efficient. The cost for the mill in term of loss of
productivity during the installation of a new system was not justified by the possible gains. The 40k€
initially expected for the task are not utilized.
The final objective of optimized work roll cooling has been reached, but without the implementation of
a new cooling system.
