In this experiment, the class-E power amplifier is designed with an LDMOS transistor MRF21010, which was obtained from the Freescale Company, Austin, TX. This amplifier is initially designed to offer 5-W output power for 15 V at 100 MHz. Since the nonlinear output capacitance is not available from the vendor, the initial design is done according to the theoretical equations for linear output capacitance [4]. The final circuits are then optimized considering the nonlinear in the Agilent Technologies’ ADS. The schematic and a photograph of the amplifier are shown in Figs. 6 and 7, respectively.
