Data sourceData for this analysis were taken from the preliminary release of thePew Internet & American Life Project's September 2012 HealthTracking Survey (Fox and Duggan, 2013), a cross-sectional survey ofadults in the United States conducted by Princeton Survey ResearchAssociates International on the impact of the Internet on people's livesfocusing on Internet use in seeking health information. Interviews wereconducted in English and Spanish by Princeton Survey Research As-sociates from August 7 to September 6, 2012.This survey data consists of responses from 3014 participants. Thedata were weighted to adjust for effects of the sample design and tocompensate for patterns of nonresponse. Specifically, the weighting wasdone by Princeton Survey Research Associates International to accountfor the differential non-response associated with sample demographics(Fox and Duggan, 2013). The subsample used in this study includedonly the respondents who answered “Yes” to the question, “Do you usethe Internet, at least occasionally?” Table 1 includes the demographicinformation of the sample used in the analysis.
