Le et al. (13) created a 17-item scale to evaluate trypophobicsymptoms. This scale, called trypophobia questionnaire (TQ),presents high internal consistency, convergent validity, goodtest–retest reliability, and very good sensitivity and specificity. They also demonstrated TQ has discriminant validity as its resultsshowed a weak relationship with anxiety scores. They found littleevidence to suggest that general anxiety could account for trypophobia. They also ran an experiment, where they showed bothclusters of holes and bumps trigger similar levels of discomfortamong trypophobic participants. However, the larger the cluster, the higher the discomfort.
