Analyses of trace metals
The levels of heavy and trace metals MPI and grand total (GT) found in males and females of P. elegans, P. serratus and P. adspersus are shown in Table 3. All metal levels in P. adspersus are higher than in P. serratus and P. elegans. P. Serratus presents higher levels of Fe, Cu, Co Zn and V than P. elegans, although these differences there are not significantly. So it can be concluded that P. adspersus is the rockpool shrimp specie studied that more metals tend to accumulate. This may be a result of different age, size, metabolic activity and feeding habits of the studied species.
