Many haze reduction methods have been presented based ontwo assumptions (dark channel prior and constant transmissionin a local patch). These two assumptions lead to a simple anduseful dehazing framework. However, Jdark(x) is not alwayszero, and transmission is not constant in a local patch. Thesefacts produce annoying artifacts in the dehazed image. Therefore, a range of post-processing methods such as softmatting [19], bilateral filtering [20], [21] and guided filtering[22], [23] are followed by a transmission estimation.
