Enteral nutrition (EN) is widely used as a sole source of nutrition or to supplement inadequate oral intake.EN provides a means to maintainnutrition adequacy during an acute phase of illness, or long-term nutrition support in cases of dysphagia or chronic disease, such as neurological conditions or head or neck cancers.Unfortunately, gastrointestinal complications are common, with diarrhea occurring in 12%-68% and abdominal distension affecting 13% of patients receiving EN.
