While the general pattern of cytosolic metal distribution was consistent among the three stations, variations of the percentage in each pool were found. As an example, the percentage of Zn and Cu associated with the metallothionein pool was higher in the White's Point organisms, while the percentage of Cd associated with the MT pool was found to be higher at the other two sites. When absolute levels of metals are compared among the three pools, the amounts of Zn associated with the MT pool varies substantially, while levels of Zn associated with the HMW and LMW pools remain quite constant. The Cu and Cd content of the MT pool was also found to vary with total metal level. The amount of Cu and Cd associated with the HMW pool was less consistent than was Zn.
