Meticulous layer-by-layer anatomical dissections on adultfresh frozen cadavers showed an identifiable thickening ofthe ALC in 35% of specimens with no adult specimens havinga discrete ligamentous structure (Fig. 1) . Anatomical assessment of fetal knee tissue revealed no distinct ligamentousstructure along the anterolateral capsule between the fibularcollateral ligament and the patellar tendon, and confirmed viahistology that only loose disorganized collagen, consistentwith capsular tissue, was present in this region of the fetalanterolateral capsule.
