Periodically, both influent and effluent samples were collected
and analyzed for PPCP concentrations. Differences between
influent and effluent concentrations for active columns were
attributed to PPCP biotransformation if they were greater than
concentration differences observed across the abiotic control
column. Biosorption was shown to be a negligible removal
mechanism for this PPCP suite by Yu et al. (2006).
