The sitting position you can see above is called the ‘W’ sitting position.
If any of you grew up sitting like this, or have kids sitting like this when they are watching TV, or playing with other children, this is something to be concerned about.
This common sitting position can lead to some serious orthopedic conditions, and is actually harmful to our postural systems, as it places unnecessary strain on our hips, knees, and ankles. This is particularly worrying in small children whose bodies are still adapting. It prevents children from being able to easily shift their weight and achieve what is known as a ‘trunk rotation’.
