Sleep-related attentional biases are considered as one of the factors maintaining insomnia. Meta-analysis studies indicate that chronic insomnia is associated with poor working memory and inhibitory functions. The state of worry can also temporarily impair the control of working memory, and the inhibitory function regulates working memory to guide subsequent attention grabbing. This study is curious whether the sleep attention bias of chronic insomniacs is caused by their working memory or inhibitory function, and whether sleep-related worry state (hereinafter referred to as sleep worry state) has an impact. The purpose of this study was to explore whether working memory mediates the relationship between sleep worry and sleep attention bias, and whether inhibitory function mediates the relationship between working memory and sleep attention bias (Figure 1). In order to understand the mechanism of sleep attention bias, it is caused by individual differences in working memory and/or inhibitory functions caused by sleep worries, or by individual differences in working memory and/or inhibitory functions.
