Fate, a abstract concept that means a supreme power which cause and control everything , often plays an important part in many stories like the "Story of a Madman" from Emil Zola and this time it becomes the most blameful thing for what happens to the main character "Maurin" . Fate , in some way , takes part in this decent gentleman´s life . It becomes several events that can change the life of the main character . For instance , in the beginning , Maurin should never married Henritte , a young and beautiful girl who he should know that he can not control . Next , Henritte , as an dynamic girl who can´t control her emotion falling in love with the doctor that lives upstairs , becomes a prelude of the tragic event . Then the evil plan comes from the doctor and the perfect performance about setting a illusion to the neighbor that Maurin beats Henritte drags Maurin into a dilemma . Because having a mad wife is a shameful thing at that time so that Maurin has no one to tell the truth about the abnormal action happens on his wife . That dilemma gives the neighbor a good opportunity to accuse Maurin as a madman . Finally , Maurin get cought and send to the hospital which drives him creazy eventually . All the events above can have lots of diversities but the fate seem to guide Maurin in some way and set him into this tragedy .
