the tantrum to blind is a stylish00:04technical trick that many writers aspire00:06to learn plainly stated a tangent of00:08blind as a hillside approached wake to00:10wake back flip with a late heelside00:12backside 180 in this instructional will00:16guide you through Sam baker's textbook00:17goofy stance tantrum - blind from start00:20to finish there are two prerequisites to00:24have consistent before attempting this00:25trick the first is being able to trip a00:28good tantrum to improve on this skill00:30refer to our instructional video00:31tripping a tantrum the second00:35prerequisite is a strong blind landing00:38to brush up on that skill practice the00:40drill outlined in our instructional00:42video forcing the blind position once00:45you've mastered the pop of the tantrum00:47and can confidently land blind all00:49that's left is connecting the two for00:52this trick the first three quarters of00:54the flip are identical to a stock Tantra00:57[Music]01:06Sam takes a nice wide approach and gets01:08on the gas early the white approach an01:12early smooth acceleration is key because01:14when Sam squares up at the wake for the01:16tantrum pop he loses some momentum when01:19he comes off of edge into the correct01:20one-handed takeoff position the extra01:25width speed and intensity in his01:27approach is neutralized by the momentum01:29loss of the wake resulting in Sam01:31landing perfectly waked awake at takeoff01:35Sam pushes all of the bend out of his01:37legs slightly favoring his tail keeps01:39his hips pushed forward and chin up with01:41his eyes toward the sky once in the air01:44he looks through the flip and spots his01:46landing as early as possible01:47this gives Sam plenty of time to back01:50out of the backside rotation if the01:52take-off didn't feel right as long as01:55everything feels correct up into the01:56three-quarter mark in the flip Sam01:58initiate Stu backside 180 rotation by02:01rotating his lower body first you'll02:03notice that his eyes are locked onto his02:05landing the whole time as if there's a02:07giant X that he's looking at on the02:08downside of the second wake Sam's02:11upper body rotation remains quiet until02:13the rotation of his lower body forces02:15his upper body along for the ride he02:18uses the handle as leverage to help him02:20get his lower body into the correct02:22landing position keep in mind that he02:25never actually pulls on the handle02:27instead he pushes his hips in the handle02:29toward each other and folds his upper02:31body over the tail as a way to leverage02:33the handle towards his hips as he02:35contacts the water02:37he places the nose of his board now his02:39new tail onto the downside of the second02:41wake he continues to push his lower body02:44through the rotation all the way until02:45his board starts tracking straight02:47notice how as Sam impacts the water he02:50folds in half slightly pushing his hips02:52toward the boat while resisting the line02:54tension with his shoulders throughout02:57the entire trick the line tension02:58remains mellow and consistent after he03:01lands Sam stays blind with one hand03:03until the line tension decreases he then03:06passes the handle into his front hand03:07and rides cleanly and smoothly away from03:10the wake
