Very good overall optical, mechanical and cosmetic condition. Some rubbed paint in raised areas and a little internal haze/fungus is evident.
Rare German Dekaris Carl Zeiss Jena 10X50 Military Type Binocular 1930 WW2
Rare German Carl Zeiss Jena Dekaris 10X50 Military Type Binocular from 1930.
This rare German Carl Zeiss Jena Dekaris 10X50 military type binocular dating from 1930 is in in very good condition considering its age. They are marked 'Carl Zeiss Jena' on the left hand eyepiece plate and 'Dekaris 10x50' on the right-hand plate. They have the serial number '1576468', which dates them to 1930. The brass and aluminium body work is in good shape, with rubbed paint and abrasion on the raised areas consummate with use. The black/brown leather finish is complete and in good condition. Overall I would describe them as well used but well looked after.
The optics are in very good, un-damaged condition. The lenses and prisms are free from any scratches or damage. When viewing through in reverse, there is a little haze/debris present, but it isn't too bad considering their age. They are still in perfect collimation and form an image, which is crisp, bright and free from false colour. Both of the eyepieces and objective lenses are very good, with no surface marks visible. The eyepieces are focused individually, as is the norm with most military type binoculars. The Bakelite eye-cups are in good shape, without chips, cracks or scratches. They come complete with an original leather neck strap and brass fixings as shown.
Please see the detailed images provided to fully assess the condition.
