Dear Taoka san,
Actually Apple & Avnet suggested to us when had a chance to sit with them in one table:
With demand and shipping records, maybe Logitec/ Elecom can consider to prepare one (last) order at one time so they can prepare connectors at one time, and EWI can prepare other materials and production also at one time. One after one separate POs with small quantity is very costly and also inefficiency for ALL parties.
I understand that it must be very difficult for you to prepare forecasted POs, but if anything I can do to eliminate your concern on preparing forecast POs, please kindly discuss with me, and let’s try to find solution.
Alternative solution is:
EWI prepare connectors and ICs for Logitec/ Elecom with the qty Logitec/ Elecom commits.
We had Lightning car charger project, LPACCI04L5W1, also in struggling situation like now, and Logitec/ Elecom finally decided to cancel the open PO, 1.5K pcs, because of long and uncontrollable schedule of Lightning connectors. The cancellation records shows on Apple reports, and also Apple noticed that we prepare some forecasted connectors and ICs without your POs, they double if we ordered these MFi parts to other projects/ customers. Therefore, they ask to us to place MFi parts PO only with customer’s POs.
My idea is:
If you can’t prepare forecasted POs, how about let EWI to prepare forecast materials for you, with the qty you commit, and the commitments are non-cancellable.
If you agree with this, we will negotiate with Apple, and persuade them to allow us to prepare forecasted POs for you.
Please let me know if it will help on you.
Thank you.
