Columbia community:
Many of our students feel a sharp increase in stress as the semester nears its end, and we want to ensure you are well informed about the many mental health resources available to support our students. As a member of our community, you play an important role in potentially being among the first to recognize a student in deep emotional distress.
In addition to providing contact numbers for the resources available on the Morningside campus and at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC), this email also describes warning signs that should alert you to the need to seek the assistance of professionals. A downloadable resource list is available here; you can also find these and other resources on the Columbia University Life app in your app store.
The most important request for you to remember is that if a student appears to be in immediate danger, call Public Safety—at the Morningside campus: 212-854-5555, and at CUMC: 212-305-7979. Regardless of where you are, you can also dial 911 in an emergency.
