1.       Default point for the Refocus effect -  we have an API that supports refocusing by giving the depth value (distance), so setting the refocus at 60cm is possible. However, not all images have objects at 60cm, and applying the refocus effect on such images will produce an image where all the objects are blurred. Our basic offer was not to apply any refocus effect until the user chooses a certain point. If Asus insist (and it seems that they are) on applying a default refocus point, I suggest to try some statistics method in order to choose a good candidate from the image. Like any other statistics method, it won’t work on 100% of the images and it requires some research in order to find the best heuristic. Since this is an app feature (not related to the core Refocus IP) it should be basically decided by the app developer.
