Two executable codes are provided as part of the basic version of FLAC: a single-precision version
and a double-precision version. The single-precision version runs approximately 1.5 to 2 times
faster than the double-precision version. However, for situations in which the accumulated value of
a variable after many thousands of calculational steps is much larger than the incremental change
in the variable, single-precision limitations will prevent further changes in the variable.
