The usefulness and effectiveness can be found in the posttest of the present study, where the participants' learningperformance was considerably improved after the application of the game-based learning process. Second, the findings of the presentstudy also reveal one of the underlying factors for the successful application of game-based learning; that is, appropriate rewardstrategies should be involved in game-based learning. This assertion echoes previous studies, which demonstrated the necessity ofreward strategies in learning (Lan, Lin, & Hung, 2012; Ronimus, Kujala, Tolvanen, & Lyytinen, 2014; Sun-Lin & Chiou, 2017).
